SIF is acting at community, national and uropean/international levels in the fields of gender equality and diversity, social inclusion and employability, integration of migrants into society and labour market, intercultural and language training, promoting entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship, digital education practices, capacity building for trainers and learners using e-learning, solving youth problems, fostering citizenship education, professional skills reinforcement, combatting violence against women, digital transformation, sustainable development.

The University of Latvia (UL) has more than 14000 students, 13 faculties and over 20 research institutes and independent study centres. It is the only classical university in Latvia and one of the largest and leading research universities in the Baltics. The UL has an active membership in networks such as EUA (The European University Association), UNICA (Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe), UTRECHT Network, Campus Europea/EUF. Involved in numerous international programmes and projects (ERA-NET, Horizon 2020, EUREKA, LIFE, INTERREG, etc. (see details here) and is a member of the FORTHEM alliance of public research universities. The UL consistently retains the position of the national, leading and most influential higher education institution in Latvia. In terms of the total number of students, the UL is also the largest comprehensive university in Latvia with a prominent standing both in the development of the entire education system and in the overall growth of the country’s economy. The UL is a modern centre of academic and professional studies, which, along with research in natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, technical sciences and medicine provides opportunities to acquire various types and levels of higher education to the residents of Latvia and other countries. The UL has a crucial role in the development of society’s academic traditions, national economy, education, environment and health protection, Latvian language and culture. The opinion of the UL substantially contributes to the public administration decision-making. Scientific activity at the UL takes place both in faculties and scientific institutes. The UL conducts research in more than 50 research areas. Scientists from the UL have developed significant studies that have contributed to the competitiveness of the national economy and the improved quality of life. The UL grows as a modern academic institution that provides an environment and infrastructure for outstanding achievements in research, studies and creative endeavours. The UL evolves dynamically – the coming years will see the establishment of the study and research centre that will stand among the most modern facilities of Northern Europe – the UL Academic Centre in Torņakalns. The House of Nature opened its doors in 2015; the House of Science was completed in 2019. Its laboratories are unique both in Latvia and across the Baltic states. In the coming years, the territory of the Academic Centre will be augmented by the House of Letters, which will be home to the faculties of humanities and social sciences, institutes and the Library. The subsequent plans involve the construction of a Technology Centre, hotels, an academic square, as well as state-of-the-art sports infrastructure, car and bicycle parking. The Accounting and Business School of Porto (ISCAP-P.Porto), belongs to one of Portugal’s largest and most prestigious public Polytechnic Institutes, the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP). The school offers its 5,000-strong student population a range of innovative undergraduate and graduate programs in Accounting, International Commerce, Marketing, Business Communication, Management and Administrative Assistance and Translation, Creativity and Business Innovations (Joint Program), Human Resources and Library and Information Sciences and Technologies.
ISCAP-P.Porto also offers Master Programs, and several double Diplomas have been developed during the last years with some of our partners.
ISCAP-P.Porto is equipped with modern and technologically advanced Multimedia, Education, Business Simulation and Marketing laboratories. Over the years ISCAP has been trying to increase its international experience and has developed a broad network of partnerships, not only in Europe, but also in Brazil and the USA.The school has been a partner in several international networks, such as AFECA, CARPE, EdiNeb, Acinnet and others, and has been an active partner in many international and European projects, namely under the ERASMUS framework. The number of outgoing and incoming students (both Erasmus, exchange, and free-movers) has increased significantly over the years. During our International Weeks, we welcome visiting lecturers and our partners’ representatives, which has contributed to the “Internationalisation at Home” process and to the establishment of enduring academic and scientific bonds amongst lecturers and researchers.
